Senior Staff Attorney
Sameera Hafiz joined Legal Momentum in April 2009 as staff attorney in the Immigrant Women Program. Prior to joining Legal Momentum, Sameera was a staff attorney at the Immigration Law Unit of The Legal Aid Society of New York where she worked in partnership with various community-based organizations to provide training and education on current immigration policies as well as direct immigration legal services. Sameera was also a staff attorney at the Safe Horizon Anti-Trafficking Program and Domestic Violence Law Project, where she provided legal services to survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence. Sameera began her legal career at the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless.
Sameera is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center. While at Georgetown, Sameera participated in the International Women's Human Rights Clinic and researched the legal responses to domestic violence and sexual harassment throughout the world. During law school, Sameera was also active with the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center, an organization dedicated to improving access to the legal system as both a volunteer and board member. Prior to law school, Sameera was an AmeriCorps Volunteer. Sameera previously served on the board of Sakhi for South Asian Women, an anti-domestic violence organization.
