The Immigrant Women Program (IWP) advocates for legal protections, social services and economic justice for immigrant women while reforming laws, policies and practices that may harm them.
- Leads national advocacy campaign that secures access to legal immigration status, benefits, and legal services for thousands of victims of violence against women and foreign fiancés.
- Conducts hundreds of trainings for attorneys, advocates, police, prosecutors and judges building skills and knowledge critical to immigrant women receiving legally correct, culturally competent assistance from professionals in their communities.
- Paves the way for immigrant women to acquire legal work authorization, housing, child/spousal support, and college loans enhancing economic security so that immigrant victims can escape abusive homes and employers.

On behalf of the National Network (NNEVIW), we are so pleased to share with you the newly released formal complaint process from DHS for VAWA Confidentiality violations. As you all know, IIRIRA section 384 and amendments create the following protections for VAWA self-petitioners (those eligible to file I-360s, I-751s based on battery or extreme cruelty, VAWA cancellation, VAWA NACARA, VAWA HRIFA and VAWA Cuban Adjustment, I-914s, I-918s):
-Protecting information regarding the self-petitioners to any third party (A-files)
-Preventing an ICE enforcement action based solely on the information of the abuser (or crime perpetrator or trafficker as appropriate)
-Prohibiting ICE enforcement actions at certain protected locations including a shelters and other victim service provider locations and courthouses
