Slaughter, invite you to a Congressional luncheon briefing to launch the organization's initiative "Women Decide 2008" and present their book "Women: A Celebration of Strength" to every Member of Congress. Women Decide 2008, is a comprehensive effort by Legal Momentum to engage the public and policy makers in a new dialogue on issues that impact women disproportionately, but that are a priority for all Americans. The campaign issues were identified through original research conducted with women and men from all over the country, and of all political leanings and backgrounds.

WHO: Legal Momentum President Kathy Rodgers
Former Representative Pat Schroeder
WHAT: Event to Announce Women Decide 2008: A New Campaign to Empower Women to Take a More Active Role the in Electoral Process
WHEN: Tuesday, September 25, 2007
12 Noon (lunch will be served)
Room B-340 Rayburn

AGENDA: Legal Momentum President Kathy Rodgers kicks off the Women Decide 2008 Campaign by presenting every member of Congress with a copy of our new book Women: A Celebration of Strength. The book, which Legal Momentum believes belongs on the desk of every policy-maker in the federal government, chronicles both the retrospective and prospective significance of women's contribution to American history. The book hails the past, highlights present€“day accomplishments, and speaks to many issues of primary concern to women today, which will be addressed in the Women Decide campaign.

Legal Momentum is the nation's oldest women's legal advocacy group and Women Decide 2008 is our national public information campaign to foster greater participation by women in the electoral process. Over the next 12 months, Legal Momentum President Kathy Rodgers will take this message to women across the country: More than 36 million women who are eligible to vote are not even registered, and 16 million of these women are between the ages of 25 to 44. To underscore the importance of their participation in the national political process, Rodgers will moderate a series of panel presentations, co-sponsored by grassroots women's organizations across the country, each one tackling one of four issues of greatest concern to American women and men: Violence Against Women; Equal Work and Equal Pay; the Health of Women and Girls; and Strong Families and Strong Communities. Legal Momentum will hold events in New York City, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta and Los Angeles.

The Women Decide 2008 executive summary and other information will be posted on www.legalmomentum.org.
