The Women Re:Build Conference held at the Museum of Jewish Heritage on April 24th and 25th was a huge success. At a time of unprecedented renewal and expansion, and as N.Y. attempts to rebuild lower Manhattan and more, the conference focused on recruiting, training and retaining skilled women from the tri-state area. We highlighted the best of practices and protocols that demonstrate our resolve to provide opportunities to women in all communities as we expand and enhance our workforce.
The Conference not only met our goals, but exceeded them. Participants' feedback during and since the Conference makes it clear that the conference was a great step forward to working together to develop programs to ensure equal opportunity for women in construction.
The 2007 Women Re: BUILD NY Conference goals:
- Ensure opportunities for the diverse workforce NY needs to rebuild Lower Manhattan and beyond.
- Engage developers, contractors, unions, educators and tradeswomen in advancing women's participation in the construction of New York.
- Identify and promote the mechanisms necessary to implement equal economic opportunities.
