Meet the Summer Class of 2020

Grace Didway

Grace Didway (she/her/hers) is a rising junior at Columbia University who is passionate about social and economic justice. She is currently pursuing a B.A. in History and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. In the future, Grace hopes to attend law school and work in the public or non-profit sector. She is thrilled to join the Legal Momentum team as Chair of Social Media and learn from one of the most influential organizations in the field of women's legal advocacy.

Catherine Gorey

Catherine Gorey is a rising senior at Cornell University's College of Human Ecology studying human development with minors in English and law & society. She is passionate about utilizing litigation and judicial advocacy to secure gender equality and empower women. She is excited to blend these passions as the Chair of Donor Development to learn more about the crucial partnerships that make Legal Momentum's mission possible.

Ilana Iskhakova

Ilana Iskhakova is a dedicated rising junior at Macaulay Honors College at Brooklyn College. She is currently pursuing a B.A. in Political Science and aspires to become an attorney, specializing in gender equity or civil rights law. Ilana is beyond excited to further deepen her passion for advocacy as Chair of Class Development & HR at Legal Momentum, the oldest legal defense and education fund for women in the U.S.

Zoe Jackson

Zoe Jackson is a rising junior at Barnard College, majoring in political science. Zoe's passions lie in the realm of advocacy and justice: particularly for women and children, and people of color. Zoe looks forward to further pursuing her interests as Chair of Curriculum alongside the talented Legal Momentum team.

Michaela Flum

Michaela Flum is a rising senior at Barnard College of Columbia University who is passionate about gender justice, international relations, and immigration policy. She is currently pursuing a B.A. in Political Science and History and intends to continue her studies in IR and development. Michaela is excited to blend her interests as the Chair of Development for Legal Momentum, the oldest legal defense and education fund for women in the U.S.

Elena Maestripieri

Elena Maestripieri is a senior at New York University who is passionate about law, policy, and women’s rights. She is pursuing a B.A. in Political Science, with a minor in Global Liberal Studies and she is an executive editor at NYU’s Undergraduate Law Review. Elena is excited to work at the first, and now oldest legal defense and education fund for women, and one day hopes to become a legal advocate herself.

Helen (Jiawen) Zhang

Helen (Jiawen) is a dedicated junior at Columbia University who is passionate about advocacy for gender equality and immigration law and policy. She is currently pursuing a B.A. in both history and East Asian Studies. With the experience working at Legal Momentum, the oldest legal defense and education fund for women in the US, Helen plans on attending law school to focus on women’s rights and immigration law.

Isabella Lajara

Isabella Lajara, Columbia College '20, is majoring in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Political Science. Isabella plans on attending law school to focus on human rights and immigration law.

Tiana Ruiz is a Political Science major with a minor in History and Latino & Carribbean Studies at Baruch College ('21). She hopes to pursue a career in social justice through attending law school and working in the non-profit sector.

Aminah Nassiff is a student at Barnard College (‘21) majoring in History (concentrating in the theme of Rights, Law, and the State) and minoring in Sociology. Aminah is passionate about social justice, specifically access to education for young women, and plans to pursue a career working for nonprofits.
