G. Elaine Wood with Gloria Steinem Legal Momentum President and CEO Carol Robles Roman and Board Chair Elaine Wood attended a book party last night featuring Gloria Steinem and Jessica Neuwirth. The event celebrated the publication of Jessica’s book Equal Means Equal: Why the Time for an Equal Rights Amendment Is Now. The author is the founder of Equality Now, and now president of the ERA Coalition, which is leading a national effort to bring attention and support to pass the Equal Rights Amendment. “Now is the time.” Both Carol and Elaine are excited to be part of this effort: “We are thrilled to support Jessica and Gloria in the fight for equal justice: We are Gender Justice Warriors—this is Legal Momentum’s core mission!”
The ERA Coalition makes the case that there is a critical need to pass the ERA—the U.S. is one of only a handful of countries in the world that does not yet have a constitutional provision guaranteeing equal rights for women.
Legal Momentum supports the Equal Rights Amendment because equality between women and men is a fundamental human right that should be guaranteed in our nation’s highest law.
