On Wednesday, March 21, the Senate voted overwhelmingly, 97-2, to pass FOSTA-SESTA, the anti-trafficking bill that modifies Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996. The bill will enable survivors of online commercial sex trafficking to sue the websites that facilitate this evil. It now goes to the President’s desk in the White House.

Legal Momentum was deeply saddened by the passing on March 16 of Lisa Quiroz, president of the Time Warner Foundation and senior vice president and chief diversity officer of Time Warner. Ms. Quiroz was a 2017 Aiming High awardee—honored by Legal Momentum last year because of her deep and longstanding personal and professional commitment to nurturing diverse talent and creating quality content for multicultural audiences.

February is from the Latin term Februarius, meaning to either 'Purify' or 'Atone'. Many people don't know that Negro History week was established in February, 1926. Carter G. Woodson (1875-1950), an African-American writer who wrote the book Mis-Education of the Negro, and is also known as the "Father of Black History," said that he had chosen the month of February for reasons of "tradition" and "reform."

Celebrating Black History Month means to me that our African Americans are celebrating our freedom from slavery and have since uplifted our communities to educate, spread wisdom, and show love to our future generations.
