Comments to the Office of the General Counsel on Docket No. FR-6111-P-02.

As an advocate for gender equality, Legal Momentum is committed to achieving economic and personal security for all women and girls by eliminating barriers to equal treatment and advancing access to equal opportunity. The proposed rule challenges these goals by undermining the Fair Housing Act's central purpose and intent, harming the groups the FHA was designed to protect. We strongly oppose the proposed rule because it severely weakens the existing disparate impact standard, eliminating the ability of women, particurlarly women of color, women with children, and women who are survivors of gender-based violence to challenge and address ongoing housing discrimination and to tackle housing and economic inequality in a meaningful way.
