New York City Council's Civil and Human Rights Committee passed a bill on December 14, 2021 making it illegal for NYC employers to post job listings without the minimum and maximum salary for the positions. The bill goes to a full Council vote on December 15th and is expected to pass. Seher Khawaja, Legal Momentum's Senior Attorney for Economic Empowerment, spoke about how the bill could eliminate gender and racial pay gaps in New York and said, "[w]e've known for a really long time that pay secrecy has stood as a substantial obstacle toward achieving pay equity, both nationally and in New York state." She previously provided testimony about the bill before the Civil and Human Rights Committee on December 2nd. Her written testimony can be found here
