    • On July 2, 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court solidified a critical victory for pay equity when it denied a petition to hear Rizo v. Yovino
    • Employers’ practice of relying on an employee’s previous salary to set her new salary perpetuates discriminatory pay practices
    • Salary history bans are effective

    "Hire Him! He's Got Great Legs!"
    • We were focused on bringing important employment discrimination cases under the Title VII provision of the recently passed Civil Rights Act of 1964
    • Hire Him, He’s Got Great Legs sought to highlight the inequality of women’s rights in the workplace, especially around sexist hiring practices
    • The campaign is archived in the United States Library of Congress

    A Post-Pandemic Gender Equality Agenda
    • The pandemic has highlighted longstanding gender and racial inequalities
    • The crisis brings renewed urgency to enacting measures that we have championed for decades, including more equitable workplace practices
    •  Women and people of color must be at the decision-making table and their rights, interests, and voices must be at the center of our policy response

    • Lynn Hecht Schafran, our Legal Director and Director of our National Judicial Education Program, was appointed on task force
    • Governor Cuomo accepted the recommendations of the Task Force in full

    Landmark Supreme Court Decision Solidifies Protections for LGBTQ Workers
    • We submitted an amicus brief in another landmark case, Price Waterhouse v. Hopkins (1989), which shaped Title VII jurisprudence and paved the way for the Bostock victory
    • Price Waterhouse was the first Supreme Court case to utilize psychological research on sex stereotyping
    • We have fought tirelessly to uphold the Civil Rights Act of 1964
