Census Bureau Reports That Single Parent Households Have Exceptionally High Hardship Rates

The Census Bureau recently reported that 42% of single parent households experienced at least one of nine measured hardships in 2011, compared to 22% for the population as a whole. Multiple hardships were experienced by 26% of single parent households, compared to 12% for the population as a whole.
