Rights Now! Curriculum & Training Program

If you are being watched, leave now!

Legal Momentum's Rights Now! program, generously supported by the New York City Council's Young Women's Initiative, is a dynamic legal education program designed to empower traditionally underserved youth, particularly young women of color. Through peer-led initiatives, Rights Now! equips young people with the knowledge and resources to improve their understanding of their legal rights regarding racial and gender discrimination. Past workshops have focused on topics such as Title IX, healthy relationships, social media and cyber abuse, and more.

Training Peer Educators

A key aspect of the Rights Now! program aims to strengthen peer educators’ leadership capacity, listening and facilitation skills, and ability to navigate challenging but essential conversations about gender-based discrimination and its multi-faceted impact. In partnership with Legal Momentum’s legal team, peer educators take the lead in shaping the program’s content and themes. Launched in 2017, Legal Momentum has supported over 40 peer educators to deliver workshops to 100+ youth in communities throughout New York City.
