  • Legal Momentum announces that Elizabeth Grayer has decided to step down as President in order to pursue another opportunity.  Her term ended on December 31, 2013, but Elizabeth has graciously agreed to act as a consultant to Legal Momentum until a new President is identified. The board has asked Lynn Hecht Schafran, Senior Vice President and Director of Legal Momentum's National Judicial Education Program, to assume the role of Acting President.   
  • A report on women and poverty 50 years after President Johnson famously declared war on poverty in the United States in his January 8, 1964 State of the Union Message.
  • Legal Momentum has filed an Amicus Brief in the United States Supreme Court in the case of Township of Mt. Holly et al. vs. Mt. Holly Gardens et al. on behalf of Legal Momentum, Futures Without Violence, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the National Network to End Domestic Violence, the NOW Foundation, and the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence. Several Legal Momentum staff members were involved in writing the brief. Tim Casey, director of Legal Momentum's Women and Poverty program, is the counsel of record on the brief.

  • Poverty Remains High.  Gender Poverty Gap Persists.Tim Casey, Director, Women & Poverty Program, Legal Momentum, has analyzed the Census Bureau’s annual poverty report which was released today and has found that the significant gender poverty gap continues.
