Azaleea Carlea

Azaleea is the Legal Director at Legal Momentum, overseeing the organization's litigation and policy initiatives. She has dedicated her career to advancing social justice, with a particular focus on promoting and defending the rights of survivors of gender-based violence. She spent over a decade providing direct legal services to survivors at various nonprofit organizations across NYC where she represented clients in complex family, matrimonial and domestic violence cases in the NYS Family, Supreme and Integrated Domestic Violence Courts. Azaleea also served as staff to US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, helping to advance her agenda on the issues of sexual assault, human trafficking, and domestic violence. She also launched the inaugural legal service program at the NYC Alliance Against Sexual Assault, providing legal representation to survivors and engaging in policy efforts aimed at improving systems responses to sexual violence.

Azaleea holds a Juris Doctor from City University School of Law and is a member of the NYC Bar Association and the NYS Academy of Trial Lawyers. She is thrilled to work alongside such dynamic and dedicated colleagues working to advance a more equitable world for women and girls.
