Elizabeth Grayer Steps Down

If you are being watched, leave now!

Friday, January 10, 2014

Legal Momentum announces that Elizabeth Grayer has decided to step down as President in order to pursue another opportunity.  Her term ended on December 31, 2013, but Elizabeth has graciously agreed to act as a consultant to Legal Momentum until a new President is identified. The board has asked Lynn Hecht Schafran, Senior Vice President and Director of Legal Momentum's National Judicial Education Program, to assume the role of Acting President.

During her almost three years as Legal Momentum’s President, Elizabeth raised the organization’s public profile through her own appearances, speeches and writing, through her leadership and guidance of Legal Momentum's programs and staff and by rebuilding Legal Momentum’s public outreach, including through a complete redevelopment of its web site. Elizabeth has been an effective advocate for Legal Momentum’s mission to ensure the economic and physical security of women and girls and has helped to attract new supporters to the organization. Her speeches at the organization’s Women of Achievement and Aiming High events and elsewhere have highlighted the growing number of women living in poverty and in fear and challenged audiences to get involved in addressing those issues.

Skilled at organizational and financial management, Elizabeth kept Legal Momentum stable during a period of economic downturn and uncertainty. She rebuilt the organization’s Development and Finance Departments and has set Legal Momentum on a course to do the fund raising that is so critical to operating a not-for-profit organization. The Staff and Board all join in wishing Elizabeth much happiness and success in her next endeavor and look forward to her continued support of Legal Momentum.

Janice Ellig of Chadick Ellig has been engaged to conduct a search for Legal Momentum’s new President. Interested applicants can forward resumes to her at Ellig@chadickellig.com.
