Legal Momentum’s National Judicial Education Program Announces New Educational Materials on Teen Dating Violence

In conjunction with Teen Dating Violence Month 2016, happening this February, Legal Momentum is pleased to announce the release of a new set of educational materials for judges, courts, court-related professionals, schools, parents, teens, and the community to learn about the dangers and consequences of Teen Dating Violence. The information and resources sheets were developed by the National Judicial Education Program (NJEP), Legal Momentum’s award-winning judicial education project, with funding from the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women.*

Today, the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued groundbreaking Guidance to law enforcement, aimed at combating gender discrimination in how police address crimes of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Blue Shield of California Protects 6,800 Employees with Workplace Domestic Violence Policy Adapted from Legal Momentum's "This Workplace Is a DV-Free Zone" Model Policy

New York, NY— Blue Shield of California announced Friday that it has adapted Legal Momentum's "This Workplace Is a DV-Free Zone" model policy and instituted a comprehensive workplace domestic violence policy to protect its 6,800 employees.

Blue Shield of California is a not-for-profit health plan with 4 million members and more than $13 billion in annual revenue. The Blue Shield Foundation is California's largest private funder of domestic violence services and prevention.

Legal Momentum Settles Pregnancy Discrimination Case against Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority

New Policies Will Benefit Many Women

New York, NY—For the second time in four months, Legal Momentum secured a positive settlement for a victim of pregnancy discrimination by a governmental entity, the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (TBTA). Bridge and Tunnel Officer Lori Ann DiPalo was removed from her law enforcement position, just for being pregnant.

The City has agreed to accommodate pregnant workers in significant ways in response to a charge brought before the EEOC by Legal Momentum on behalf of New York City Police Officer Akema Thompson.
